The day started on our behalf by getting guitar/bass backline from Pain Confessor (huge thanks, guys!) as well as our drums to the club around 15.00. It’s the necessary evil before every gig so not much glory in that but hey, band’s gotta do what band’s gotta do?
After getting gear set up at Suisto it was time for sound checks. Scar Symmetry First, then Bibleblack and finally ours. Everybody agreed that Tommi Kurki’s wizardly sounds were great so checks were done quick and swift. Nothing fancy there, having lunch (meatballs, cream sauce, potato mash and salad) and some ice cold beer. 2 and half hours until our set so we decided to leave the club to go print the set list. Bit snobby, maybe, but we all agreed it’s better than my messy handwriting. It was also a good excuse to get some beer…
Back to club, hanging out, beer, concentrating on set, laughs, beer and basicly getting to know guys. It was great to notice that these Swedish guys were all so great, down to earth guys. Waiting for the intro and stretching. Basicly getting the mood on to go in there and give a good show for a sold out club.
As our intro started playing (a bit edited version of Masters Of Horror movie series intro) we got on stage, plugged in and kicked the pedal to the metal. First song was Demons which is always a great track to start a gig. Fast, aggressive and one of the first songs we did. Straight after that it was time for When The Last Daylight Dies and during that song I accidentally managed to fill my sneaker with water: There was Vikke’s pint and my water bottles nicely near the floor monitor and my mic cable flew like lasso around them so when I jerked backwards during a mosh part, the cable knocked them over right into my left sneaker. Pretty funny feeling trying to look all evil and not to laugh. Third song was Words Of Denial spoken in like: “Are there any real metal heads? What? I don’t believe you since you’re all in denial”. Yeah, mostly jokes suck but what can you do with a shoe filled with water? Next song was Legions, one of our newest songs and one of personal favorites. Lot’s of growl and fast lyrics on aggressive song. Seems like people have taken us well since after screaming the next song in, For The Sake Of Suffering, the hell broke loose. Once again broken pints on floor and one of the monitors almost rolling on the stage, again. Luckily this time them monitors were tied down so they stayed almost in place. Since we were on a tight schedule and didn’t want to go overtime, we had planned a 6-song gig. So the last one was a good finale, The Marble Walls. I felt things were just getting started but you got to stay on the plan. As the song ended, crowd demanded more and we would have liked to give them more. Anyways, it was time to relax, drink beer and party on.
Not much to tell about events that happened next. More beer, great time with guys and drunk people telling praises. All in all, one hell of a gig.
